So! Last night I saw Modest Mouse for the first time. I've never seen them and I've been in love with them since I was 13. The first song I heard was Shit Luck. I love that song, Tiny Cities Made of Ashes and my absolute favorite is Dance Hall. I just think it is the most powerful song they have. I was positive that they would play it because it just seems to be the best concert song...whatever, so I don't know what I'm talking about. There was this bitch standing right behind me and before MM came out to start setting up, shes like "WHOOOO! WHOOOO! WHOOOO! ISAAC I LOVE YOU!" Could have killed her. She didn't stop the whole night.

Josh (My fiance) REALLY liked them too. It was cool cause he had heard the songs so much cause I always play them so he was singing with me...

Anyways, That was my first Modest Mouse experience.

Anyone else go to one of the shows in SoCal ?

Hey Thar. [22 Jan 2005|10:46am]

[ mood | i made muffins! ]

Hey thar, all you MM fans. Been a diehard fan for two-ish (?!) years, own all the albums, went to the August 9, '04 gig at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Wish I jotted down the list, but it was all so fast and wonderful and bliss. Pure, sweet MM bliss. Isaac Brock had the "cutest fucking shirt ever" on and I agreed. Hell yea. Wish I was on the floor for that show, but oh well. My favorite MM album is The Moon & Antarctica. I prefer the older stuff. The Lonesome Crowded West is rad as well. Just wanted to note my existance. Well, going go hunker down for the predicted blizzard. Yikes.

Introduction [10 Jan 2005|04:58pm]
Hello, I'm new. My name's Shannon, and I love Modest Mouse. I basically got into them when "Float On" came out, bought that cd, and loved it. Then I dled a bunch of songs by them that some people recommended to me, and realized that their older stuff kicks even more ass than the new. So I recently bought "The Moon & Antarctica", and I'm in love. "The Cold Part" is probably my favorite song by them that I've heard. The violin in it is so beautiful. But anyways, sorry if that was a boring intro, I ramble sometimes.

Oh yeah, and if anyone wants to add me or whatever, feel free. Just comment and let me know first (and check my info to make sure we have something in common). I love meeting new people. :)

[ mood | ecstatic ]

I went to Modest Mouse two nights in a row when they came to Portland this week.
What wonderful shows.
I was very pleased with their performance and I thought The Thermals and Cobra High did VERY well opening for them.
I just wanted to share my love with you.

hello all, I'm new. i love modest and loved them for several years now. personally their new cd is great of course, but a lot different, it has a different flow to it. Non of their cd's are alike any way but this one seems to get at me. My favorite album would be Lonesome crowded west and This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about! Their an amazing band with a unique talent that shouldn't be overlooked by fame

New Magazine Articles [19 Jul 2004|01:20am]

Modest Mouse currently have an article in the new Rolling Stone magazine, which can be seen at RollingStone.com.
Plus, they are the cover subjects of a great article in DIW (Independent Thoughts on Independent Music). This article features an in depth interview with Jeremiah Green.

I am a new Modest Mouse fan. To me they are such clever artists who mixes different styles of music to make a pure indie rock sound. I don't expect Modest Mouse to write some sappy top 40 song. The band has got to be one of the most innovative groups to hit the music scene in a long time. Good News for People Who Love Bad News is the best album of 2004 so far and after a hundred listenings it's still a refreshing album of emotion and depth.

woo. i love modest mouse, not just like it. but im wondering if the people in this community are as biased towards mm's new cd as the other modest mouse communities are. is it wrong to enjoy songs on their new cd which had incidently propelled mm into the whole "popular band" group, hosted of course by mtv,?
